Meet Molly and Maggie
Update**10/28/08
Molly and Maggie are doing great and both are putting on weight. Twice a day they get 10 lbs of mash that consists of timothy pellets, beet pulp, calf manna and Total* Equine Suppliment plus 15 lbs of hay per feeding that they slick right up. They have had their first worming and will be getting trimmed either this week or early next week.
So without further adue, here are this weeks pictures of Molly and Maggie! What sweet horses they are!

Molly's ribs are still visible but you can see her rump is already filling out as well as her topline is not as dropped at it was before. Her shoulders are already getting thicker also. Maggie is also showing some muscle development on her rump now and her worm belly is gone. Her pasterns are already getting stronger and more upright so now she needs trimmed to aid in correcting the bad angle they are at right now.
Slowly but surely!

In this sad economy, there have been many victims. Most of them are completely unable to change their situations because they are the pets and livestock of those who are unable to care for them. There are many reasons why animals find themselves in bad conditions and are at the mercies of those who have them.
Molly is a red dun overo paint mare and her 5 month old filly we decided to call Maggie. We got hem because their owners new they could not care for then any longer so they called us.
Maggie is in dire need of a trim as her front hooves are way too long and she is walking on her heels and breaking down her pasterns at this time. We will get a fairier out here asap to fix them up. I do think that a lack of proper nutrition during her critical first months has aided to her weak pasterns also.
We are going to do the best we can to bring them both back to health and give the filly a chance at reaching a greater portential and both a new lease on life. This is never easy and is always expensive and we are not a rescue so it has come out of our pockets for many years for other horses.
10/22/08 Thanks to wonderful and generous people, the needs of these two horses are being met! A gentleman from the Mount Vernon area has generously set up an account for Molly and Maggie At Big R in Colville! Big Thanks also goes to Andrea Adler of Idaho and Lori Westman of Pullman Washington for their generous help!
10/21/08**Maggie got her first halter lesson and is learning to be touched and to trust us. She no longer runs from us but is still shy and we have to be very gentle and quiet to approach her. We also did a picking up hooves lesson and within about 15 minutes she was letting me pick up all of them without a fight! Getting her hooves trimmed is a priority at this point.
Watch for updates next week! We will update their info and pictures so you can watch Molly and Maggies progress!
All donations go to these two horses needs directly!
Unfortunately this is not tax deductable as a charitable donation. Chaulk it up to advertizing but you also get to help two horses in need and your name will be listed with others as someone who supports their return to health! There will be regular weekly updates on their progress so you know how they are doing!
